TANA CARSON, PHD, MOT, OTR/L

Director

Dr. Carson is an Assistant Professor for the Department of Occupational Therapy in the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Florida International University.

She earned her Ph.D in Behavioral and Cognitive Neuroscience and her Master of Occupational Therapy at the University of Florida. While there, she directed the development of her own dissertation research project and gained excellent insight into pediatric clinical practice and the need for effective interventions to reduce anxiety and sensory-over responsiveness. 

Currently, Dr. Carson leads the Pediatric Research Lab at FIU and is actively engaged in research aimed at decreasing anxiety and stress for pediatric patients and their families and improving engagement in meaningful activities.  She is also a licensed and practicing clinician/researcher at the Center for Children and Families at FIU. INGRIS TREMINIO, OTD, OTR/L

Clinical Research Collaborator

Dr. Ingris Treminio is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Florida International University (FIU). She serves as a Clinical Research Collaborator for the Pediatric Research Lab and is involved in planning research studies and clinical services.

She completed her Masters in Science of Occupational Therapy at FIU and later completed her Clinical Doctorate in Occupational Therapy at Nova Southeastern University. While completing her Capstone Project and Doctoral Residency, she interviewed stakeholders in the field and gathered valuable insight into South Florida's employment-related service needs for individuals with intellectual disabilities age 21 and over.

 ANGELA MEDINA, PHD, CCC-SLP

Co-Investigator 

Dr. Medina is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Florida International University (FIU). She is a co-investigator for the study titled: The First Pediatric Misophonia and Hyperacusis Questionnaire. She will aid in the development and implementation of the study, leading qualitative data collection and analysis methods.

She completed her Masters in Linguistics at Florida International University and later completed her Ph.D in Applied Language and Speech Sciences at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
